This generic Troop Handbook is intended to be used as a starter and modified by the Troop. This handbook was a Doctor of Commissioner Science thesis for Commissioner Walter Beauchamp (former Scoutmaster), and was reviewed and approved by Bruce Anderson, Council Commissioner.

Merit Badge Counselor Application Process

Please have all new Merit Badge Counselors complete a BSA Adult Application if they’re not currently registered with a unit (Pack, Troop, Team, Crew), Youth Protection Training (within one year), and a Merit Badge Counselor Information form. Attached is a fillable adult application and Merit Badge Counselor Application.

Then please email their Merit Badge Counselor applications, Youth Protection Training certificate, and adult application (if needed) to membership@seattlebsa.org and CC both the Alpine District Executive (chornor@seattlebsa.org) and the district Merit Badge Counselor (alpinembcc@gmail.com).

The Council Registrar team will let the troop, district, and Merit Badge Counselor know if there are any issues processing the Merit Badge Counselor application(s).

Requesting a Current Merit Badge Counselor (MBC) Roster

Please email the district Merit Badge Counselor (alpinembcc@gmail.com) for an updated Merit Badge Counselor roster. Anyone not listed on this roster isn’t currently registered as Merit Badge Counselor.
