Aquila District

100FlagParadeThere are several big parades throughout the Aquila District during the month of July. Scouts can choose to march in one or all of them! Really! The more the merrier! Ideally each parade would have a single, large Scout presence instead of several smaller, separate groups. This includes Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, Venturing Scouts, Sea Scouts, Varsity Scouts, etc. In order to accomplish this, please don't register your own Scout group in the parade. Instead, please contact the Parade Coordinator for the parade(s) your Scout group wants to march in. Contact information and specific parade details are included here for each parade, so read on to find the info for your parade.

First, some important details for all parades:

  • Everyone should gather at the designated starting spot and time (see below)
  • Youth and adults should wear their full uniforms
  • Please be prepared with sunscreen, hats, and water bottles (water refill jugs too)
  • Each unit should bring their American flag, Washington state flag, unit flag, etc.
  • Flagpole carry belts are very useful for parades if you have them
  • Units can bring any other props they want (floats, bikes, wagons, canoes, go carts, banners, signs, etc.)
  • If you let your parade coordinator know your group is coming, they can get flyers printed up with your contact information for your group to hand out to interested parade watchers
  • Your group may purchase individually wrapped candies (chocolates melt) for your youth to hand out along the parade route
  • Never throw candy or flyers
  • Make pickup arrangements for your group at the end of the parade (see below)
