Klahowya Brothers

Join us National Public Lands Day - Saturday, September 24th - for a day of brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service.  For 100 years, the National Park Service has been faithfully preserving America's greatest treasures for our enjoyment, and now its our time to give back.  Help those who have so well served us in one of two places.  Questions:

Olympic National Park

We will meet from 9:00 am to noon at the Port Angeles Visitors Center 3002 Mount Angeles Road, Port Angeles, WA 98362. There, we will help with three projects.

1. Pulling weeds and spreading mulch.

2. Ripping up old log seats and possibly installing new ones in outdoor amphitheaters.

3. Pulling more weeds and possibly doing some demolition at another area of the Visitor Center.

Tools will be provided, but bring your own gloves and (just in case) rain gear. The volunteer coordinator has asked me for a head and vehicle count. Chapter Chiefs please get a tally of how many in your chapter are going and in how many vehicles and get it to me as soon as possible.

North Cascades National Park

We will be cleaning up the Newhalem Campground and possibly doing trail clearing in the area. This is a heavy use campground with a lot of damage from last years' fires, so our efforts are greatly appreciated. The campground is a 10-minute walk from the North Cascades National Park Visitor Center. Details on what the park would like us to bring and what times they want us to arrive and leave are pending (I will disseminate them as soon as I get them). Unless told otherwise, we will work from 9:00-3:00 (with a lunch break). I suggest bringing gloves, a lunch, shovels, rakes, hedge trimmers, hefty trash bags, and maybe a few wheelbarrows. (This might be overkill, but hey a scout is prepared. Again, I will let you know as soon as I do what the park will provide and what we need to bring).

Order of the Arrow Unit Elections

Each year troops may elect Scouts for the Order of the Arrow and may nominate one or more adults.  The time period that Tkope Kwis Kwis lodge conducts elections is November - March.  As the election season nears we will post information about the election process, a link to request an election, eligibility criteria for youth and adults.

Chapter meetings are the second Thursday of each Month at the LDS Bellevue Church, 10675 NE 20th St, Bellevue  7:30 - 9:00 PM.

It's the same time and place as the roundtables, get a ride with your scoutmaster!
