Ventures Memorial Day Weekend Whitewater Rafting

Challenging all Older Scouts (Crews, Ship, Post, and OA) members to come to participate in a White Water Rafting Trip on the Skagit River. The group will gather at Fire Mountain Scout Camp, Camporee Field on Friday Night, participants must arrive before 10 PM – Departing together Saturday morning for a leisurely 1:10 minute drive to meet the Outfitter, Triad. Will embark on a ½ day of White Water rafting on the Skagit River. Then return to Fire Mountain that evening for an evening of fellowship and fun. The group will return Sunday between 1-2 PM depending upon where the participant lives.

Wetsuits Required: Yes, when water is under 55 degrees. Each person should make sure that they have a wetsuit available to them (rent or bring your own). Guides may decide that water and air conditions are suitable to go without a wetsuit at the meetup for the trip, in this case, all unused wetsuit rental charges will be refunded. (note that on 4/14 it showed a historical range at Marblemount of 39-46 degrees).

SCHEDULE:

Friday Night – Please try to arrive at Fire Mountain on Friday Night before 10 PM; Come prepared to Tent Camp and eat Dinner before you arrive to minimize the need to cook.

Saturday Morning (camper) – Bring a Dry Breakfast for Saturday morning. From Fire Mountainit is just over an hour to the Marblemount Boat Launch.

Saturday Morning (drive-ups) – Make sure you work backward from the time needed to make the Rendezvous at Marblemount Boat Launch at 9 AM. Mapquest shows a 2:30 min drive time from Mercer Island, so plan accordingly.

Saturday Afternoon (camper) – Will return to Fire Mountain for a night of Fellowship & Fun. We will plan together to figure out a group meal plan for the participants.

Saturday Afternoon (drive-ups) – Can Join the Camping Group or Go Home. This will be a LONG DAY – hence why we are trying to provide a break opportunity with Fire Mtn.

Sunday – Going Home – Depending on the group and the location of where you live. The anticipated return time is 1 to 2 PM
