National Camping School Training

The primary aim of the National Camping School (NCS) is to furnish adults with comprehensive learning opportunities and practical training pertinent to the management of council camps and events. These proficient individuals will subsequently impart their knowledge by training and overseeing other personnel involved in your council’s camping initiatives.

NCS provides training for various roles including Short-Term Camp Administrators, Day Camp Administrators, Long-term (Resident) Camp Directors, Long-term (Resident) Program Directors, Aquatics Directors, Climbing Directors, Project COPE Directors, COPE and Climbing Program Trainers, Ecology Directors, Outdoor Skills Directors, Trek Directors, and Shooting Sports Directors.

Please note that not all sections may be available at every school. Refer to the course listing below for details regarding sections offered, dates, times, and locations.

NCAP – Short Term Camp Administrator

A short-term camp is any council-organized overnight camping program, whether one-time or continuing, that is one, two or three nights in length where the council or its agents provide the staffing and may provide program and food services, and includes camps conducted off council properties. National training courses are subject to the short-term camp requirements, regardless of format or duration. (See NCAP standard SA-001)
